O alto teor de cromo e molibd\u00eanio proporciona boa resist\u00eancia \u00e0 corros\u00e3o, e a combina\u00e7\u00e3o geral permite que esta liga seja mais forte e resistente do que a maioria dos a\u00e7os austen\u00edticos padr\u00e3o. Os a\u00e7os inoxid\u00e1veis duplex 2205 mant\u00eam boa soldabilidade em suas se\u00e7\u00f5es mais espessas e s\u00e3o muito mais resistentes \u00e0 corros\u00e3o sob tens\u00e3o por cloreto e corros\u00e3o por corros\u00e3o do que os a\u00e7os austen\u00edticos padr\u00e3o como 316L ou 317L.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Com quase o dobro do limite de escoamento de outras classes austen\u00edticas compar\u00e1veis, os produtos de a\u00e7o duplex 2205 podem suportar press\u00f5es mais altas e ambientes mais corrosivos com menos material, economizando peso e custos de fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o. Para resolver esse problema, a placa de a\u00e7o duplex 2205 deve ser recozida em solu\u00e7\u00e3o a 1900\u00b0F (1038\u00b0C) no m\u00ednimo at\u00e9 2012\u00b0F (1100\u00b0C), seguida de t\u00eampera em \u00e1gua para resfriamento r\u00e1pido. Embora possa ser endurecido por trabalho, os tratamentos t\u00e9rmicos n\u00e3o endurecem este tipo de a\u00e7o inoxid\u00e1vel.<\/p>\r\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Machining_and_Weldability\"><\/span><strong>Usinagem e Soldabilidade<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\r\n<p>A alta resist\u00eancia do duplex 2205 dificulta a usinagem. S\u00e3o recomendadas m\u00e1quinas fortes e r\u00edgidas com baixa vibra\u00e7\u00e3o, e ferramentas de metal duro exigir\u00e3o velocidades de avan\u00e7o mais baixas.
